Waveland, MS

John volunteered his services for one week a month to serve on the Hurricane Disaster Relief Team in Waveland - Bay St. Louis, Mississippi which was completely annihilation from Hurricane Katrina.  Churches from every part of the country sent teams of people to help the disaster victims.  As intern director, John's main responsibility was to provide safe food and lodging.  He also provided orientations and assessed each individual's skill level to allow them to be placed on a task where they would be most effective.  John also coordinated equipment and material.  It was our privilege to be able to help Fellowship Hall build a new office, kitchen, classrooms and bathrooms for the Christian Missionary Alliance Southern Region.   Hurricane Katrina Gallery

Habitat for Humanity

Improving the quality of life for others is one of the main goals of John Mirenda Construction, Inc.   Habitat for Humanity is one such organization for whom we volunteer our construction knowledge and skills. At the regular weekly meeting, the building committee meets to review work in progress and schedule future work.  Our entire office staff chips in to help.  For the year of 2007, John Mirenda was named Volunteer of the Year by Habitat for Humanity.  John was deeply honored to receive this award.
